Happy New Year!

2010 will bring new changes to the University of Tennessee Central Florida Alumni Chapter. I have been your president since 2008 and my term has now come to an end. It has been a privilege and honor to serve you these past 2 years. I have had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know you through our many events and have enjoyed every moment. However, it is now time pass the torch to someone else.

Lauren Morris will be your new chapter President. Lauren has been on the board since 2005 and your Vice-President since 2006. Lauren graduated from UT-Knoxville in 2001 with a degree in Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

You will see changes in the 2010 board members and officers. Board members stepping down are Ray Henry (past-President and past Board of Governors Representative), Elizabeth Landers (past-President), John McKee, Lynette McKee, Charles Osborne, and Leslie Osborne (past-President and past Board of Governors Representative). Thank you for your dedication and contributions through the years.

Joining us this year are four new board members. They are: Burns Hovey (UTK-1982), Maureen Hovey, Peter Howlett (UTK-1999), and Rachel Knight (UTM-1996). Their enthusiasm and experience will be a great asset to the chapter.

Your returning board members are: Anne Lautzenheiser (UTK-1988), Jason Morris (UTK-2000), and Mickey Spencer (UTC-1981). The 2010 chapter officers are: Lauren Morris (UTK-2001)/President, Laura Leslie (UTK-1985)/Vice-President, Kristie Scott (UTK-1991)/Secretary, and Lora Scott (UTK-1998)/Treasurer.

UTAA will no longer award Chapters silver, bronze and gold medal awards. Instead, Chapters meeting standard expectations are Accomplished Award winners. Chapters who go above standard expectations receive the highest honor of Outstanding Award winners. Thanks to you and your participation with the chapter, we are Outstanding!

Your officers and board members are already working hard to make 2010 another Outstanding year. Besides getting updates through our website, soon you will be able to stay in touch through Facebook. February brings a family all-day outing to watch the Lady Vols and Lady Mocs softball teams in Clermont FL. We are also planning a brunch prior to the games with all the coaches. These are just a few of the exciting things happening this year. There is much more to come!

Wishing you the best in 2010!

Sincerely,

Laura Leslie (UTK)

President 2008-2009
